At the time of Jesus, being blind was a lot harder than it is today. When we meet our two blind friends, they&#8217;re sitting by the side of the road. Given the historical context, there\u2019s a good chance that they were poor and begging. So that\u2019s how we imagined them for our manga adaptation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When the two blind men called out to Jesus, He answered them. And if we look a little closer at this story, we can learn something about how we can find help in our time of need.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This is how the blind men approached Jesus\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span>1. They acknowledged who Jesus is.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Lord, Son of David<\/strong><span><strong>, have mercy on us!&#8221;<\/strong> (Matthew 20:30-31)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Somehow these guys knew that Jesus was more than just another good teacher.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span>They called Him &#8220;Son of David.&#8221; This is a reference to the Messiah or Christ &#8212; the One the Jewish Scriptures promised would come to save us from our sins.\u00a0 And this is who the Bible confirms that Jesus is.\u00a0<\/span><span>They also called Him &#8220;Lord.&#8221;\u00a0 This is pretty much the same as calling Him God. Something the Bible also confirms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span>2. They Begged for mercy.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Lord, Son of David, have mercy<\/strong><span><strong> on us!&#8221;<\/strong> (Matthew 20: 30-31)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>These guys didn&#8217;t approach Jesus with the attitude that they deserved His help.\u00a0 They came to Him in humility.\u00a0 They admitted their desperate need for Him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span>3. They didn&#8217;t worry about what other people said or thought.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>&#8220;The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, <\/strong><\/span><strong>but they shouted all the louder<\/strong><span><strong>\u2026&#8221;<\/strong> (Matthew 20:31)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sometimes we&#8217;re afraid to ask for help because we&#8217;re scared of what other people might think. And many people worry that if they follow Jesus, or even start to learn about Jesus for themselves, they might look strange to their family or friends. But these blind men were ready to forget about that and reach out to Jesus anyway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<div>Jesus asked these men an important question.
