In the Waypoints manga “The Pool,” a man finds hope and healing after some 38 years of waiting and relying on the wrong things.
Like all our stories, this one is inspired by scenes from one of the biblical biographies of Jesus (John 5:1-15). It takes place at a place called the Pool of Bethesda. Though it was located in Jerusalem, there is archaeological evidence that this healing pool, where the story takes place, may have had connections to paganism, specifically Greek god of healing, Asclepius.
This manga shows the main character’s heart change from trusting in superstition to having true faith in Jesus. As he discovered, Jesus is the true source of healing He’s the one with power and authority over both natural and supernatural evils.
And yes, this is still true today! The following video tells one Japanese’s man’s story of finding healing and hope in Jesus:
